Domaine Besancenot
1997 Beaune Premier Cru Bressandes
The Bressandes climat differs from the rest of Beaune by producing more fruity Pinot Noir grapes and flexible tannins. After nearly 2 decades in the winemaker’s cellar, this 1997 wine really broadcasts that fruit, along with what Besancenot calls its “elegance”. Perfect wine to break out for the guests!
Earth, fig, and dry autumn leaves on the nose, followed by dark fruit jam. On the palate, a silky taste but with a wave of subtle sour cherry-like acidity on the mid-palate. Delicate, fine-grained tannins notable especially on the long, lingering finish. Drinking very nicely now.
Food pairing: Duck; roasted chicken dishes; rabbit or other game; mushroom or lentil dishes
