Domaine Thibert Père et Fils
2012 Macon-Fuissé Bois de la Croix
Barely a notch below its better known neighbor Pouilly-Fuissé, this single-parcel Chardonnay displays the lively balance of fruit and minerality that characterizes Domaine Thibert’s wines.
Sweet spice, chalky minerality, fruit aromas, and vegetation mark a youthful nose with white floral notes in the background. The palate features lively fruit and good acidity that lasts through to the clean finish. There’s an attractive chalky, youthful quality to this light- to medium-bodied wine. Simple, but tasty. Delicious now. Drink by 2016.
Food pairing: lighter fish or white meat chicken in lemon sauce
An attractive medium gold. Fresh citrus and pineapple scents come up out of the glass to greet you. Hints of hay, pear blossom, and fresh pears on the nose as well. An initial richness on the palate suggestive of honey and pineapples is quickly followed by a rush of balancing acidity before a long finish marked by hints of melon, vanilla, and pineapples again. Has a distinctive and appealing astringency on the very end suggestive of apple skins. Not complicated wine, but delicious wine. Excellent value.
Food pairing: Fish, shellfish, roasted chicken, roasted pork

Domaine Thibert Père et Fils
Run by the brother-sister team Christophe and Sandrine Thibert, the domaine has won at least 7 medals and 3 distinctions for its wine. Neal Martin (of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate) called it “a treasure trove of… outstanding wines” and “one of the few Maconnais producers to really nail the idea of sélection parcellaire”.
