Côte de Nuits-Villages
When the French King Henry IV declared his intention to place “a chicken in every pot”, he assumed it would be paired with wine from Côte de Nuits-Villages. These wines are accessible and simple, yet honest and straightforward. Perfect for everyday!
The appellation spans 400 acres scattered over 5 villages of the Côte de Nuits — Fixin and Brochon in the North, Prémeaux, Corgoloin and Comblanchien in the South.
It was created in 1937 to recognize quality vineyards that had not quite made it to the more exalted “cru” status.
The wines, predominantly red, are rich and elegant, with well-marked fruit and a degree of roundness on the palate.
Reds work well with meat dishes, such as pâtés, well-roasted lamb, or braised veal.
Whites pair well with goat cheeses and country pâtés.
